Ellmau: Frequently Asked Questions
Why do families pick this village?
Ellmau pairs valley-level nursery terrain with a direct lift into the Hartkaiser sector, and the runs above the village are mostly blue and red rather than steep.
Does the skiing last longer here than elsewhere in the area?
Yes. Ellmau runs an extended season from 30 March to 4 April 2027, after the rest of the network closes on 4 April 2027, and low-season rates apply during that window.
Can you reach the far side of the area from here?
Ellmau sits at the eastern end of the Wilder Kaiser side, so reaching Westendorf means crossing the Hohe Salve and Brixen sectors, which takes most of a skiing day each way.
What is the village known for beyond skiing?
Ellmau is the filming location used for the German television series Der Bergdoktor, and in summer it operates the Ellmi's Zauberwelt mountain park.
Is a separate ticket needed for the lifts?
No. Ellmau is covered by the single SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental pass that is valid in all nine villages.
