Best Mayrhofen Piste Maps: Ranked for 2026/27
In September 2026 the most reliable Mayrhofen piste map is the official Mountopolis interactive map from Mayrhofner Bergbahnen, which shows all 142 km of pistes and 61 lifts on Penken and Ahorn with daily open-lift status. The printed panorama map and the myZillertal app cover the same terrain offline. For the wider 206 km Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000, use the Tux and skiresort.info maps. Season runs 4 December 2026 to 11 April 2027.

Mountopolis Interactive Piste Map
The operator's own interactive map is the reference version because the data comes from Mayrhofner Bergbahnen itself. It renders all 142 km of piste and 61 lifts across Penken and Ahorn, flags which lifts are running that morning, and sits on the same page as opening hours for the 2026/27 season (4 December 2026 to 11 April 2027). Free, no login, works in a browser. Weakness: it needs a data connection.
Best for: Live planning before you ride up

The classic drawn panorama of Penken and Ahorn, published by Mayrhofner Bergbahnen and listed in the Mayrhofen-Hippach maps overview. It numbers every piste, which is how you find Harakiri as run 34, and it prints legibly on A4 or saves as one image on a phone. All 142 km appear on a single sheet. It carries no live status, so pair it with the interactive version each morning.
Best for: Offline and paper use

The destination app for the whole Zillertal, covering the same four ski areas as the Zillertal Superskipass with its 546 km and 180 lifts. It runs on iOS and Android and shares a single login with mayrhofen.at and myzillertal.at, so a pass bought online shows up in the same account. Most useful if you are moving between Mayrhofen, the Zillertal Arena and Hintertux rather than staying on Penken all week.
Best for: Superskipass holders touring the valley

Published on the Tux side, this map shows the full Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000: Hintertux Glacier, Eggalm, Rastkogel, Finkenberg, Penken/Mayrhofen and Ahorn. That is 206 km of pistes, 65 lifts and 630 m to 3,250 m of vertical on one sheet. It is the right map for the glacier circuit, quoted at 60 km of descent and 15,000 vertical metres in a day. Less detail on Mayrhofen village lifts than the operator version.
Best for: Skiing through to the Hintertux Glacier
Official website See full factsBergfex Mayrhofen Panorama Map
Bergfex hosts the Mayrhofen panorama map next to live data: open lift counts (for example 6 of 54 showing open during a shoulder-season check), snow depths at mountain and valley stations, and a webcam wall. The touring app adds 3D and satellite overlays. It is a third-party aggregator, so treat the lift numbers as indicative and confirm marginal days against the operator's own page.
Best for: Snow depth and webcam cross-checks

Skiresort.info files Mayrhofen under Penken/Ahorn/Rastkogel/Eggalm (Mountopolis) and labels the trail map by season, with the 2026/2027 sheet published alongside an interactive version and a separate Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000 map. Season labelling is the real benefit: it stops you planning from a three-year-old map. Coverage of daily lift openings is thinner than on the operator page.
Best for: Checking you have the current season's map
Official website See full factsWhat does the Mayrhofen piste map actually cover?
The map that locals call the Mayrhofen piste map is the plan of Mountopolis, the ski area run by Mayrhofner Bergbahnen. It shows 142 km of groomed pistes served by 61 lifts, split between two separate mountains above the village: Penken and Ahorn. Both are reached by valley cable cars from Mayrhofen itself, and there is no piste link between them, which is the single most important thing the map tells you.
On the same sheet you will usually also see Rastkogel and Eggalm, the neighbouring sectors reached over the Penken ridge. Add those and the Hintertux Glacier and you are looking at the Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000: 206 km of pistes, 65 lifts and an altitude span from 630 m in the valley to 3,250 m on the glacier.
How do Penken and Ahorn differ on the map?
Penken carries most of the red and black terrain. It holds the Harakiri (piste 34), the PenkenPark freestyle area and the RennParadies Unterberg, which has two permanent timed race tracks called Gold and Silver. If your group wants long intermediate mileage, this is the side to point at on the map.
Ahorn is the gentler half. Wide runs such as the Ahornabfahrt and the Familienabfahrt make it the beginner and family mountain, and the Ahornbahn, Austria's largest aerial cable car, carries the SkyRide panoramic deck on its roof. Practical consequence: a mixed-ability group that buys one pass still has to meet in the village, because moving between the two mountains for the 2026/27 season (4 December 2026 to 11 April 2027) means riding a cable car down.
Where is the Harakiri on the map and how steep is it?
Harakiri is marked as piste 34 on the Penken side, in the Horbergtal below the six-seater chair that serves it. The gradient reaches 78 percent, which is about 38 degrees, over a vertical drop of roughly 375 m and a length of around 1,500 m. That makes it one of the steepest groomed runs in Austria.
Two things the map cannot tell you. First, the run is machine-groomed and heavily snowmaked, so it frequently skis icy, especially before 10:00. Second, there is no easy bail-out halfway down. Mayrhofner Bergbahnen suggests testing yourself on piste 12 first. If that feels comfortable at speed, Harakiri is realistic; if not, skip it and use the reds either side.
How far does one ski pass extend beyond the Mayrhofen map?
Three tiers matter when you read the map. The Mountopolis area ticket covers the 142 km and 61 lifts on Penken and Ahorn. The Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000 ticket adds Finkenberg, Rastkogel, Eggalm and the Hintertux Glacier for 206 km and 65 lifts, from 630 m up to 3,250 m.
The Zillertal Superskipass is the widest option: 546 km of pistes and 180 lifts across four ski areas (Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Spieljoch, Zillertal Arena, Mayrhofner Bergbahnen and Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000), valid 4 December 2026 to 11 April 2027 and sold for 1 to 21 days. Passes of up to 1.5 days are only sold for single ski areas, so a short break is normally an area ticket, not a Superskipass.
How do I get the Mayrhofen piste map onto my phone for offline use?
Start with the official interactive map
Open the Mountopolis winter pages on mayrhofen.at and load the interactive piste map. This is the version tied to the lift company's own data, so it also lists which of the 61 lifts and which pistes are open on the day, alongside opening hours (8:00 to 17:00 on the Penkenbahn from 25 December 2026).
Install myZillertal before you travel
The myZillertal app, run for the Zillertal destination and shared with mayrhofen.at logins, carries valley-wide ski information on iOS and Android. Install it on hotel wifi rather than on the mountain, where cell coverage in the Horbergtal is patchy.
Save a static panorama image as a fallback
Download the panorama piste map as an image or PDF and keep it in your phone gallery. A saved image opens with no signal, no app and almost no battery drain, which matters on a minus 10 degree day in January.
Add a live-status second opinion
Bookmark bergfex or skiresort.info for Mayrhofen. Both publish the panorama map plus open-lift counts and snow depths, which is useful in early December 2026 when only part of the 142 km is running.
Take a paper copy at the lift station
Printed maps are handed out at the Penkenbahn, Ahornbahn and Horbergbahn valley stations. One paper map per group is the cheapest insurance against a dead battery at 16:30, when last ascents close.
What do people get wrong when reading the Mayrhofen map?
Mistake one: assuming Penken and Ahorn connect on snow. They do not. Mistake two: treating the 630 m valley altitude as skiable terrain all season. The valley runs are the first to suffer, and the Ahornbahn only runs to 4 April 2027 while Penken lifts continue to 11 April 2027.
Mistake three: planning the Hintertux Glacier as a quick afternoon add-on. It sits at the far end of the Zillertal 3000 map, and the classic glacier circuit from Penkenjoch via Rastkogel and Eggalm is a full day of 60 km of descent and about 15,000 vertical metres. Mistake four: using a map from an older season. Lift counts and piste numbering change, so check the season label on the sheet before you rely on it.
