Best Apres-Ski in St. Anton: Top 6 Bars Ranked
As of September 2026, the strongest apres-ski venues in St. Anton am Arlberg are the MooserWirt (open daily from 11:00, indoor session from 15:00), the Krazy Kanguruh (rebuilt and reopened on 18 December 2025), Taps, the Sennhuette, the Heustadl and Basecamp. Ski Arlberg's operator states parties run on the slopes until 8 pm, so plan the descent to the village before that.
Best Apres-Ski in St. Anton: Top 6 Bars Ranked, ranked
MooserWirt
Open since 1989 at Unterer Mooserweg 2, directly on piste 1 above the village. Winter opening is daily from 11:00 with food service to 19:00, and the indoor session starts around 15:00. Ski Arlberg's operator names it first among the resort's apres venues, and parties on the slopes run to 8 pm. Peak-week visitors are advised to book a table; walk-ins after 16:00 in February stand.
Visitor note (Google Maps) "We had lunch and après-ski at the Mooserwirt."
Best for: The 15:00 peak-hour party

Founded in 1965 by Gernot Schneider, now run by two-time world slalom champion Mario Matt. The original hut closed on 6 April 2025 and was demolished that summer, with the rebuild opening on 18 December 2025. The new building at Mooserweg 19 adds a glass winter garden, a raised DJ booth and a full kitchen. It sits opposite the MooserWirt on the same descent, and the Tyrol board notes a largely English-speaking crowd.
Visitor note (Google Maps) "At Kanguruh they even hire an English-speaking DJ."
Best for: English-speaking party crowd
Official website See full factsTaps
Mooserweg 17, a short walk from the two headline huts, with a seating capacity of 100 per the St. Anton am Arlberg tourist board. It is the only venue in the cluster with published figures: main courses EUR 9.20 to EUR 15.50 and happy hour from 15:30 to 16:30, checked 15 September 2026. A resident DJ works the room daily, and the directory lists it as open in winter only.
Best for: Advertised happy hour and priced menu
Official website See full factsSennhuette
An alpine hut on blue piste 1 with a large panoramic sun terrace, named on Ski Arlberg's official apres-ski page alongside the MooserWirt. The Tyrol tourist board's resort guide flags its live music and recommends Saturdays. The menu runs to Austrian staples such as Groestl and goulash soup. It is the lowest-intensity of the three piste-1 stops, which makes it the realistic option if you still intend to ski down.
Best for: Live music on a sun terrace
Official website See full factsHeustadl
A slope-side apres-ski bar on main slope 50 at Dengertstrasse 625, with a sun terrace used for live music sets. Independent resort guides describe it as the traditional, lower-volume alternative to the Mooserweg pair, and it trades under the name Heustadl Apres-Ski & Bar on its own social channels. Useful as a first stop from around 15:00 before the bigger venues fill, or as a quieter afternoon on its own.
Best for: Low-key slope-side stop
See full factsBasecamp
A bar at the Galzigbahn valley station, so no descent is required afterwards. The Tyrol tourist board's resort guide places it at the Galzig base, and resort guides describe a large heated outdoor area with seating. That combination makes it the sensible endpoint for anyone who does not want to ski piste 1 after dark, given that slope parties run to 8 pm at the mountain huts.
Visitor note (Google Maps) "For that, right on the slope with live music and good food."
Best for: Finishing at village level
Official website See full factsWhen does apres-ski actually start in St. Anton?
Earlier than most visitors expect. The MooserWirt lists winter opening daily from 11:00, and its kitchen runs through to 19:00, so the terrace fills up during lunch rather than after the last lift. The venue's indoor session is the part people travel for: it begins at around 15:00, when the shutters come down and the sound system starts. Taps, on Mooserweg a few metres away, schedules its happy hour from 15:30 to 16:30, which tells you where the crowd is at that hour.
Ski Arlberg's operator states that the party on the slopes runs until 8 pm before guests descend to the village. In practice that gives a five-hour window from 15:00 to 20:00. If you want a seat at a table rather than a spot in a corridor, arrive before 14:30, especially in February and over New Year.
What does a St. Anton apres-ski afternoon cost?
Published figures are thin, because most slope-side bars in St. Anton do not post drink prices online. The clearest reference point is Taps: the St. Anton am Arlberg tourist board lists main courses from EUR 9.20 to EUR 15.50 and a seating capacity of 100, checked on 15 September 2026. Its happy hour window of 15:30 to 16:30 is the only formally advertised discount among the Mooserweg cluster.
For drinks, we do not publish numbers we cannot source. Reviewers on Tripadvisor consistently describe drink prices at the Krazy Kanguruh as high by Austrian standards, and the Sennhuette drew a comment about a EUR 3 glass of water. Treat those as reports, not as a price list. Budget on the basis of one round per hour and check the board at the bar; the 2026/27 winter season pricing for these venues was not published at the time of writing.
Is the Krazy Kanguruh still open after the demolition?
Yes, in a new building. The bar opened in 1965, founded by Gernot Schneider, and it is widely credited as one of the first apres-ski venues in St. Anton. Its own channels announced a closing weekend with a final day on 6 April 2025. The original hut was then levelled during the summer; the demolition was reported on 29 August 2025, leaving an open site on the mountainside below the Galzig.
The rebuild was fast. The replacement venue opened on 18 December 2025, in time for the 2025/26 season, and it added a glass winter garden, a raised DJ booth and a full kitchen. The business is run by Mario Matt, a two-time world champion in slalom. The address remains Mooserweg 19, opposite the MooserWirt, so the old ski-down routine is unchanged even though the building is not.
Which venues work if you do not want a table-dancing crowd?
Three options sit on the same descent but run at a lower volume. The Sennhuette stands on blue piste 1 with a large panoramic sun terrace, and the Tyrol tourist board's resort guide singles out its live music, with Saturday named as the day to go. The Heustadl sits on main slope 50 with a sun terrace and live music, and it trades as an apres-ski bar rather than a nightclub.
Basecamp is at the Galzigbahn valley station, which makes it the practical last stop for anyone who wants to finish at village level instead of skiing down in the dark. Ski Arlberg's own apres-ski page also names the Arlberg Hospiz Alm alongside the MooserWirt, the Krazy Kanguruh and the Sennhuette, and that one is a restaurant-led stop rather than a party bar.
How do you get back to the village after the bars close?
Fix your exit time before 15:00
The indoor session at the MooserWirt starts around 15:00 and Ski Arlberg's operator states parties run until 8 pm. Decide in advance whether you are leaving at 17:00 on skis or staying to 20:00 and walking. Two hours in a slope-side bar changes how the last 300 metres of piste feel, and the light goes early: in January, dusk in Tyrol arrives well before the bars empty.
Know the route down
The MooserWirt (Unterer Mooserweg 2), Taps (Mooserweg 17) and the Krazy Kanguruh (Mooserweg 19) sit within a couple of hundred metres of each other on the run above the village, along piste 1. The Sennhuette is on the same blue piste 1, further down. Check the piste closing times on the day; the marked descent is not floodlit for its full length.
If you have been drinking, do not ski
There is a footpath and a road below the Mooserweg venues, and taxis serve the area. Leaving skis in a depot at the bar and collecting them the next morning is normal practice in St. Anton. Injury statistics for apres-ski descents are not published by the resort, but ski patrol shifts end well before 20:00, so a fall on the final pitch after dark is your own problem.
Continue at village level
Basecamp at the Galzigbahn valley station and the bars on Dorfstrasse keep going after the mountain venues close. The tourist board's gastronomy directory lists opening seasons and seating capacities for village venues, which is useful for groups of more than ten. Taps, for example, seats 100, verified on 15 September 2026.
What mistakes do first-timers make in St. Anton?
Three recur. First, turning up at the MooserWirt at 16:00 in high season without a table booking: the hut is busiest from the 15:00 start, and guides recommend reserving in peak weeks. Second, assuming the Krazy Kanguruh is still the 1965 hut. It is not; the original was demolished in summer 2025 and the replacement opened on 18 December 2025, with a different layout including a glass winter garden.
Third, treating the ski down as part of the party. Parties on the slopes run to 8 pm per Ski Arlberg, which is long after patrols finish. A fourth, smaller error: expecting card-only service everywhere. Carry some cash, because terrace service at the smaller huts is quicker with it.
