Via Ferratas
Via ferratas are protected climbing routes that use fixed steel cables, iron rungs, ladders and occasional bridges bolted into rock so hikers can cross exposed alpine terrain without full rock-climbing gear. Austria grades routes on an A to E scale and concentrates most of them in Tyrol, Salzburg and Styria.
