Best Ski amadé Ski Areas: Ranked for 2026/27

As of September 2026, Ski amadé is one lift pass covering 25 ski areas in five regions of Salzburg and Styria, with up to 760 km of slopes and 260 to 270 lifts. The strongest individual areas are Snow Space Salzburg (210 km linked, 70 lifts) and Schladming's 4-Berge-Skischaukel (123 km, 43 lifts). Gastein offers the widest altitude band at 860 m to 2,300 m.

Best Ski amadé Ski Areas: Ranked for 2026/27, ranked

1.

Snow Space Salzburg

Flachau, Wagrain and St. Johann-Alpendorf hold 120 km and 45 lifts on their own, and the gondola link to Shuttleberg Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl and Zauchensee pushes the connected total to 210 km with 70 lifts over 12 peaks and 5 valleys. That is the largest single-ticket circuit inside Ski amadé, with 10 entry points off the A10. Flachau also keeps the 530 m Hermann Maier World Cup course.

Best for: Longest linked mileage

Schladming 4-Berge-Skischaukel

Four mountains (Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm) link without a bus for 123 km: 47.3 km blue, 67.3 km red, 8.4 km black, served by 43 lifts and 56 huts. Vertical runs from 2,015 m to 750 m and the longest descent measures 7.7 km. The WEST winter sports centre sits a six-minute walk from Schladming station, which makes this the strongest car-free base in Ski amadé.

Best for: Car-free intermediates

Hochkönig

Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach share about 120 km of piste and 34 lifts under the Hochkönig massif. The Königstour covers 35 continuous kilometres and roughly 7,500 vertical metres across six summits, and Maria Alm has been fully connected since 2018/19 by the 10-seater Natrunbahn and Sonnbergbahn gondolas. Beginners get a dedicated practice slope, and racers get the Marlies Schild training course.

Best for: Long panoramic tours

4.

Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel

Gastein's main circuit offers 82.7 km of slopes plus a 1.3 km ski route on 17 lifts, and spans 860 m to 2,300 m, the biggest vertical band in this group. The Infinity-Loop links Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein via Stubnerkogel and Schlossalm for more than 4,000 metres of descent in a session, and Angertal holds a large beginner and children's zone with covered conveyors.

Best for: Biggest vertical

5.

Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl

Three mountains (Rosskopf, Gamskogel, Tauernkar) carry 45 km of piste and 16 lifts between 1,000 m and 2,100 m, the most snow-sure profile among the Ski amadé areas ranked here, with cover held to after Easter. The lift link to Snow Space Salzburg turns it into part of a 210 km, 12-peak network, and the A10 Tauern motorway exit puts the car park minutes from the slopes.

What exactly is Ski amadé, and what does one pass cover?

Ski amadé is a lift-pass alliance, not a single linked ski area. The official overview lists five regions (Salzburger Sportwelt, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, Hochkönig and Grossarltal), 25 ski resorts, up to 760 kilometres of slopes, 260 lift facilities and 250 ski huts. Wikipedia's data sheet breaks the terrain down into roughly 356 marked runs: 275 km blue, 390 km red and 95 km black, served by 270 lifts with a stated capacity of 375,000 passengers per hour. The network takes its name from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was born in Salzburg, and Salzburg city sits about 60 km from the nearest resorts.

The important caveat comes from the operators themselves. Snow Space Salzburg states plainly that the 760 kilometres are not skiable end to end the way its own 210 km are, so moving between regions means a car or a ski bus. Ticket rules follow that geography: passes valid for up to one day work only in the local area group, while passes of two days or more open every lift in Ski amadé.

How big is each Ski amadé ski area, and which one is the biggest?

Snow Space Salzburg is the mileage leader. Flachau, Wagrain and St. Johann-Alpendorf hold 120 km of pistes and 45 lifts on their own, and the gondola link to Shuttleberg Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl and Zauchensee lifts the connected total to 210 km with 70 lifts across 12 peaks and 5 valleys. Schladming's 4-Berge-Skischaukel is close behind on quality of linkage: 123 km split into 47.3 km blue, 67.3 km red and 8.4 km black, with 43 lifts, 56 huts and four mountains (Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm) joined without a bus. Its longest run measures 7.7 km, from 2,015 m down to 750 m.

Hochkönig spreads about 120 km and 34 lifts between Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach, and its Königstour strings 35 continuous kilometres and roughly 7,500 vertical metres over six summits. Gastein's Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel circuit is smaller at 82.7 km plus a 1.3 km ski route with 17 lifts, but it runs from 860 m to 2,300 m. Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl is the compact high-altitude option: 45 km, 16 lifts, 1,000 m to 2,100 m.

What does a Ski amadé pass cost, and how does validity work in 2026/27?

Ski amadé publishes the season card window before the daily rates. The ALL-IN Card White for 2026/27 is not valid before 10 October 2026 and not after 2 May 2027, and it covers every member lift that is running inside that window. Holders of an ALL-IN Card White or Gold from 2024/25 or 2025/26 get a loyalty bonus off the 2026/27 card: EUR 100 for adults, EUR 50 for U25 and EUR 30 for youths and children. Day and multi-day tickets go on sale from the start of September, and as of 15 September 2026 the operator still lists 2026/27 day prices as "to follow".

Practical details matter more than headline rates. Prices move with the date, the time of purchase and demand, which is what the Online Early Booking Bonus rewards. A keycard carries a EUR 3.00 deposit, passes of nine days or more need a photo (taken free at the counter), and the family bonus gives a free pass to the third and younger siblings when a parent and the two older children buy for the same period. Family Spring Deals start 13 March 2027.

How do you choose a base and a ticket inside Ski amadé?

  1. Decide between mileage and altitude

Pick the metric that will actually shape your week. If the goal is long linked days without unloading the car, Snow Space Salzburg's 210 connected kilometres and Schladming's 123 km over four mountains are the two realistic answers. If early-December or post-Easter snow matters more, Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl sits at 1,000 m to 2,100 m, and Gastein's circuit tops out at 2,300 m.

  2. Match the terrain mix to your group

Check the colour split before booking. Schladming's 4-Berge-Skischaukel is 47.3 km blue against 8.4 km black, so it leans intermediate. Gastein's Angertal sector holds a large children's and beginners' area with covered conveyor belts. Hochkönig keeps a practice slope plus the Marlies Schild training course, and Zauchensee runs Zauchi's Kinderland with a magic carpet.

  3. Work out how you will arrive

Access varies sharply. Schladming's WEST winter sports centre is a six-minute walk from the railway station, which removes the need for a car. Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl is reached directly off the A10 Tauern motorway. Hochkönig's villages sit 13 km from Bischofshofen and 6 km from Saalfelden.

  4. Buy the right ticket length

One-day tickets are regional only: in the Snow Space group they cover Snow Space Salzburg, Kleinarl-Flachauwinkl-Zauchensee and Altenmarkt-Radstadt. From 1.5 to 2 days upwards the pass becomes a full Ski amadé ticket for all 760 km and 270 lifts. If you plan to ski two regions, that threshold decides your purchase.

  5. Book early and claim discounts

Rates are dynamic, so the Online Early Booking Bonus is the cheapest route. Returning guests should apply the loyalty bonus (EUR 100 adults, EUR 50 U25, EUR 30 youths and children) before checkout. Children and youths ski at weekend rates cut by up to 35 percent against the standard price.

How snow-sure is Ski amadé, and when does the season actually run?

Snowmaking does the heavy lifting here, because parts of the network start low. Ski amadé states that 90 percent of its piste area, about 684 kilometres, can be covered artificially, using more than 4,000 snow guns that produce roughly 15 million cubic metres of snow from water and air. Grooming runs on 160 machines and 170 staff. Across the partner companies, 1,880 people are employed, 830 of them year-round.

Season length follows altitude. The ALL-IN Card White window of 10 October 2026 to 2 May 2027 is the outer envelope, not a promise that every lift spins. Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl, between 1,000 m and 2,100 m, is marketed as snow-sure through to after Easter, while Schladming's valley stations sit at 750 m and rely on machine cover for the lower 4-Berge runs. Gastein's 860 m to 2,300 m spread gives the largest single vertical in the group.

What do first-time Ski amadé visitors get wrong?

Three mistakes recur. The first is treating 760 kilometres as one circuit: the five regions are separate, and the operators say so. The second is buying a one-day ticket and then trying to use it in another region, when only passes of two days or more unlock the whole network. The third is underestimating transfers, since Hochkönig sits in Pinzgau while the 4-Berge-Skischaukel lies in the Styrian Enns valley.

Smaller slips cost money. Returning guests forget the loyalty bonus on the ALL-IN Card White, worth EUR 100 to an adult. Groups skip the family bonus that makes the third and younger siblings free. Anyone buying a nine-day pass or longer needs a photo at the counter, and every keycard carries a EUR 3.00 deposit that is only refunded when the card goes back.

How is this ranking computed?

  • Linked piste kilometres: 30%
  • Snow reliability and altitude: 20%
  • Lift capacity and modernity: 20%
  • Terrain variety by ability: 15%
  • Access and logistics: 15%
