Lech Zürs Ski Guide: Best Ski Arlberg Areas
As of September 2026, a Lech Zürs lift pass is the full Ski Arlberg ticket: 300 km of marked runs, over 200 km of deep-snow variants and 85 lifts across Vorarlberg and Tyrol. The 2026/27 winter season runs from 2 December 2026 to 18 April 2027. Only five sectors sit on that ticket, so this ranking covers the whole field rather than a padded list.
Lech Zürs Ski Guide: Best Ski Arlberg Areas, ranked
Lech Zürs am Arlberg
Base here and the network starts at the door: 300 km of marked runs, 85 lifts and over 200 km of deep-snow variants on one ticket. Der Weisse Ring adds a 22 km circuit with 5,500 vertical metres on easy to intermediate pistes. Lech village sits at 1,444 m, slopes reach roughly 2,450 m, and Oberlech adds a 1,750 m plateau. The 2026/27 season runs 2 December 2026 to 18 April 2027.

The Tyrolean end of the same pass, reachable from Zürs on skis since the Flexenbahn opened for 2016/17. It shares the St. Anton, St. Christoph and Stuben lift grouping, and the wider area tops out at 2,811 m from a 1,269 m base. The 2025/26 season ran 3 December 2025 to 19 April 2026, and lifts restart on 2 December 2026 with the Stanton Ski Open on 4 to 6 December 2026.
Best for: Advanced terrain
Official website See full factsWarth-Schröcken
Lift-linked to Lech since winter 2013/14, which makes it the obvious first day trip north on the same Ski Arlberg ticket. The calendar is shorter than the core villages: 5 December 2025 to 12 April 2026 in 2025/26, with an 11 April 2027 close scheduled for 2026/27 against 18 April 2027 in Lech and Zürs. Season ticket holders here also get discounts on Ski Arlberg day passes.
Best for: Snow-sure day trip

Small and quiet, sitting at the hinge of the network on the Vorarlberg side. The EUR 45 million Flexenbahn project put it one lift ride from Zürs from the 2016/17 season and lifted the connected count to about 305 km of runs served by 85 lifts. It follows the main calendar, 3 December 2025 to 19 April 2026 last winter and 2 December 2026 to 18 April 2027 next, inside the St. Anton, St. Christoph and Stuben grouping.
Best for: Quiet mornings

Klösterle's ski area works as the pass's overflow valve. Ski Arlberg's terms state that when numbers are limited in Lech, Oberlech, Zürs or Warth-Schröcken, tickets are issued at Sonnenkopf and the Tyrolean villages with validity limited to those lifts. Its calendar matches Warth-Schröcken, 5 December 2025 to 12 April 2026 in 2025/26 and closing 11 April 2027 next winter, and it is already covered by the standard Ski Arlberg tariff.
Visitor note (Google Maps) "It's beautiful up on the Sonnenköpfen."

Official website See full factsWhat does a Lech Zürs lift pass actually cover?
The ticket sold in Lech and Zürs is the area-wide Ski Arlberg pass. The resort's own figures put the network at 300 km of marked runs, more than 200 km of unmarked deep-snow variants and 85 lifts and cable cars. The Wikipedia entry for the area lists a top elevation of 2,811 m and a base of 1,269 m, which is a 1,542 m spread on one card.
Village coverage goes well beyond the two names on the pass. Ski Arlberg tariffs apply in Warth-Schröcken, Lech Zürs, St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Klösterle/Sonnenkopf, Pettneu and the Tyrolean Lechtal lifts. That single-ticket structure dates from the 2016/17 season, when the Flexenbahn between Zürs and Stuben/Rauz closed the loop as part of a EUR 45 million investment, making the Arlberg the largest contiguous ski area in Austria at roughly 305 connected kilometres.
How do you ski the classic Lech Zürs circuits?
Start with Der Weisse Ring
The signature Lech circuit covers about 22 km and 5,500 vertical metres, built from five descents, six lifts and a short cross-country section. Official material calls it a half-day outing on easy to intermediate runs, with viewpoints at Rüfikopf and Madloch. It links Lech, Zürs, Zug and Oberlech, so you finish where you started. For scale, the race version over the same 22 km has a best time of 44:35 set by Patrick Ortlieb, against roughly 1,000 entrants each year.
Take a second day north to Warth-Schröcken
Lech has been lift-linked to Warth-Schröcken since winter 2013/14, so the northern sector is a ski-on day trip rather than a bus ride. Watch the calendar: in 2025/26 Warth-Schröcken ran 5 December 2025 to 12 April 2026, and the 2026/27 close is set for 11 April 2027, a week earlier than the 18 April 2027 end date in Lech, Zürs, St. Anton, St. Christoph and Stuben.
Cross to the Tyrolean side via the Flexenbahn
From Zürs, the Flexenbahn plus the Trittkopfbahn I and II and Albonabahn II have connected Stuben, St. Christoph and St. Anton on skis since 2016/17. That is the spine of the one-day Run of Fame circuit, which starts in St. Anton and works through Lech, Zürs and Warth. Budget a full day and check last lift times, because the return leg depends on a chain of lifts rather than one gondola.
Keep Sonnenkopf as the backup
Ski Arlberg's own terms state that when numbers are limited in Lech, Oberlech, Zürs or Warth-Schröcken, tickets are issued in St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben and at Sonnenkopf with validity restricted to those lifts. Sonnenkopf at Klösterle follows the Warth calendar, 5 December 2025 to 12 April 2026 last winter and closing 11 April 2027 in 2026/27, so it is a genuine fallback on peak days.
What does a Lech Zürs ski pass cost in 2026/27?
Ski Arlberg published 2026/27 tariffs as provisional, calculated in August 2026, and reserves the right to recalculate if energy costs or inflation move. Every pass carries a EUR 5.00 deposit for the Ski Arlberg chip card on top of the ticket price. Day passes are valid area-wide across St. Anton, Lech Zürs and Warth-Schröcken, and multi-day passes are only valid on consecutive days.
Age bands matter more than headline prices here. Children are those born 2010 to 2017, youth 2006 to 2009, seniors born 1961 or earlier, Schneemann tickets cover children born 2018 or later, and Senior Active applies to anyone born 1951 or earlier. Published rate examples include a EUR 11.00 Schneemann day pass and a EUR 42.50 Senior Active day pass (snow-online, checked 15 September 2026). Passes bought the day before can be used from 4 pm that evening.
When should you book a Lech Zürs trip?
The 2026/27 ski season in Ski Arlberg starts on Wednesday, 2 December 2026 and runs to Sunday, 18 April 2027, with limited operation possible at either end. Warth-Schröcken and Klösterle-Sonnenkopf finish on 11 April 2027. For comparison, 2025/26 ran 3 December 2025 to 19 April 2026 in Lech, Zürs, St. Anton, St. Christoph and Stuben.
Timing changes the ticket price, not just the queues: the resort sells cheaper early-season Wedel Weeks tariffs and spring sun-skiing tickets around the high-season block. Altitude is the other lever. Lech village is at 1,444 m, Oberlech sits at 1,750 m, and the terrain above the villages runs to about 2,450 m, which is why late-season snow holds better on the upper half. Summer is a separate season: the Arlberg lifts run 13 June to 11 October 2026, and Lech Zürs itself 18 June to 4 October 2026.
What do first-time visitors get wrong here?
Three mistakes come up repeatedly. The first is assuming the whole 300 km is always open to you: the official terms allow limitation in Lech-Oberlech-Zürs and Warth-Schröcken, in which case your ticket is reissued for the St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben and Sonnenkopf lifts only. The second is treating the network as one hill. It spans two federal states, and getting from Lech to St. Anton and back on skis is a chain of lifts, not a single ride.
The third is calendar drift. Warth-Schröcken and Sonnenkopf close on 11 April 2027 while the core villages continue to 18 April 2027, so a late-season week built around the northern sector can lose a third of its terrain. Also budget the EUR 5.00 chip card deposit and remember multi-day passes must be used on consecutive days.
Which alternatives make sense if Lech Zürs is booked out?
Staying inside the same ticket is the cheapest switch. Stuben sits on the Vorarlberg side one Flexenbahn ride from Zürs and shares the 2 December 2026 to 18 April 2027 calendar. St. Anton offers the same pass on the Tyrolean side, with the Stanton Ski Open opening festival on 4 to 6 December 2026 and free admission to the festival area, two days after lifts start on 2 December 2026.
There are also cross-pass discounts worth checking. Holders of the 3TälerPass and of a Warth-Schröcken season ticket receive reductions on Ski Arlberg day passes, and 3 Valleys Pass season or multi-day ticket holders can buy switching day tickets. If you want a smaller, quieter day, Klösterle-Sonnenkopf is already included on the Ski Arlberg tariff sheet at no extra cost.
